OMR Setup
7-8 MS-9 Scanner User’s Manual
Trigger Delay Type
Number of Scans
Definition: If Pulse is enabled, the scanner will wait the number of pulses (from an
encoder) set by Trigger Delay before evaluating its scans for OMR sym-
bols.
With Time enabled, the scanner measures the time that transpires
between a trigger and the appearance of a symbol in the center of the
scan and applies that delay to subsequent triggers before evaluating
scans for OMR symbols.
Usage: With Pulse enabled, the scanner can track OMR symbols on variable
speed applications. This requires the use of both triggering and encoder
pulse timing devices.
If the symbols are moving by at a fixed speed, Time delay can be used in
connection with a triggering device alone.
Serial Cmd: <K490,status,parity status,# fields,trigger delay mode,# scans,gate
bar location,trigger delay type,output style>
Default: Pulse
Options: 0 = Time 1 = Pulse
Definition: Depending on speed and length of the symbol, the whole symbol is within
the scan beam width a very specific time period. When the set number of
scans is reached, the scanner compares OMR scans and outputs those
scans with the most successful decodes.
Usage: Enabling too many scans could result in incomplete scans; too few could
diminish reliability.
